About The Smithy

Our Mission

The Smithy is an educational gaming platform that teaches real musical skills through an immersive multiplayer experience. We combine game design, music education, and cutting-edge AI to create a unique learning environment for tweens and teens.

What Makes Us Different

Music, Not Magic

Unlike traditional fantasy games, The Smithy teaches actual music theory through gameplay. Players learn:

  • Musical intervals and relationships
  • Rhythm and tempo
  • Elemental associations with musical parameters
  • Real instrument skills

Educational First

Every game mechanic is designed with learning outcomes in mind:

  • Evidence-based pedagogy
  • Age-appropriate difficulty progression
  • Multiple learning styles supported
  • Real-world skill transfer

AI-Powered Documentation

We leverage AI agents like Minh to:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation
  • Identify knowledge gaps
  • Provide contextual help
  • Learn from player behavior

The Project

Our Values

1. Education First

Games serve learning, not the other way around. Every mechanic must teach something valuable.

2. Accessibility

We design for diverse learners with different backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.

3. Real Skills

Players should walk away with abilities they can use in the real world - not just in-game.

4. Community Care

We foster a supportive, inclusive community where everyone can thrive.

5. Transparency

Open development, clear documentation, and honest communication.
